"You look beautiful!" Katara said cheerfully, adjusting the brocaded sleeve, the high silk collar encasing Toph's neck. "I can hardly even recognize you."

"Do you think the guests will?" Toph asked hopefully. "Maybe then I can slip out and no one will care."

Katara frowned, and pushed her out the door. "It's a party, not a death sentence. Besides, I let you marry my brother, the least you can do is let people admire my handiwork."

Toph grumbled and Katara felt the floor shake a little under her feet.

Hansel and Gretel
Sokka looked at the map. He looked at it again. He turned it upside down and scrutinized its every angle carefully, until Katara snatched it from his hands.

"I think we're lost," Aang pointed out, helpfully. "Maybe we should just go back the way we came." Appa grunted in assent.

"We're not lost. I always know exactly where we are," Sokka said.

Momo looked at them all in turn, and continued to drop lychee nuts on the ground, just in case.

Little Red Riding Hood
For the first week or so, Iroh only waited for him. He knew it was inevitable Zuko would return, the question was only when, and in what mood.

The mood he took to was exactly the one Iroh had hoped beyond hope against, and when his nephew finished releasing it upon him: the anger, the frustration, the sheer terror; he ate his Komodo Chicken in the calm after the storm.

A part of him remained that expected more than this, at some point in time, and he pushed it down deep until it was forgotten.

He had all the time in the world, and none.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
"Make them go away, Ty Lee," Mai whispered.

"I can't," Ty Lee replied, cheerfully. "They all want to see you right now, and I've kept them waiting for a really long time, Mai..."

Mai steepled her fingers and sighed. It was the kind of sigh that without fail only encouraged Ty Lee further, but it seemed too much effort to use a different one.

"Zuko can come in," she said, finally. "The rest of them have to wait outside."

"That was generous of you," Zuko grumbled as the door swung open and shut like a drum behind him, but Mai only smiled and drew him close.

"I think you like Momo more than me," Sokka commented idly to Suki.

"He talks less," Suki grinned, scratching the lemur behind his ears as he let out a small murr of contentment.

The Snow Queen
The color of the fire was one she had hardly seen, and Ozai looked at it with a satisfaction that was almost longing.

"Like ice," he said, and Azula felt it - the slow crawl of power in her veins, the intoxication of something perfect, something done beyond well.

"You said blue was the hottest color," Azula replied, and she felt the glow of praise in the eyes that watched her.

"I meant you, Azula," her father said. "You can burn...but you can also cut."

He touched her cheek for just a moment, perfect and pale, and Azula smiled.

Rumpelstiltskin
The many inflections of Katara saying his name are what he imagines in the darkest times: concerned, affectionate, joking, enamored. Each time it sounds different, each time it sounds meaningful.

It was only a name, another part of him that mattered no more than the color of his eyes, but when Katara says it, it is something ordinary turned golden.
